Speaker Series – Reckoning with History at Fort Chambers
September 9 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Berthoud Historical Society’s next Speaker Series begins on September 9th with a powerful evening of learning and reflection as we welcome Right Relationship Boulder for a presentation on:
“Boulder’s Fort Chambers: A Call to Reckon with our History and Build Right Relationships with Indigenous Peoples Today”
Berthoud Recreation Center Community Room
This important program explores Fort Chambers, one of the staging grounds for the 1864 Sand Creek Massacre, where 230 Cheyenne and Arapaho people were killed. Presenters will share the story of what happened there, its lasting consequences, and how reflection on this history can guide us toward building respectful and positive relationships with Indigenous peoples today.
– Jerilyn DeCoteau (Turtle Mountain Chippewa)
– Paula Palmer
– Brigid Mark
The evening will include a 30-minute slide presentation, followed by Q&A and open discussion.
